Couples listen up!
Here is one of the first things a wedding planner will quickly learn — A wedding day will not always run perfectly on time, and that’s okay!
If you find yourself running behind schedule, don’t panic. Just pivot like a pro. Here are five (5) quick, practical tips to help you get your wedding day timeline back on track without the stress:
- Get rid of the receiving line. If you are planning to host a receiving line at the end of the ceremony (or the start of the dinner reception), skip it. It will more than likely save you 30 to 60 minutes.
- Trim the timing of your cocktail reception. Confer with the catering or banquet staff to ensure this is okay. If everyone is in agreement, start encouraging your guests to head into the dinner reception starting 20 to 15 minutes prior to the preplanned dinner reception time.
- Bustle your wedding gown during cocktail hour. This process can take up to 15 minutes, so consider bustling the dress as soon as you finish taking pictures.
- Assign someone to help guests find escort cards & seats quickly. After an hour of consuming alcohol, your wedding guests might find it difficult to locate their name on a seating chart in a dimly light foyer. So, having someone available to help them find their names may help speed up the process.
- Build extra time into your wedding day schedule before the big day. The best defense is a good offense.
Whether you’re a professional wedding planner or a couple planning your dream day, these tips will help you stay calm, stay flexible, and still deliver a seamless experience for your guests.
