Last week, we shared that our couple’s wedding was featured on United with Love. Today, it’s our turn to showcase their wedding (captured by Stephen Bobb Photography)!
Sarah and Michael chose President Lincoln’s Cottage for their wedding day — I consider this quaint and historic venue to be one of Washington DC’s best kept secrets!
While in residence at the Cottage, President Lincoln visited with wounded soldiers, spent time with self-emancipated men, women and children, and developed the Emancipation Proclamation.
This cottage sits on the 272-acre campus of the Armed Forces Retirement Home (formerly “Soldiers’ Home”), an independent federal agency that is home to approximately 1200 veterans here in Washington, DC.
For her wedding ceremony, Sarah wore an ivory Tadashi Shoji gown with an intricately pieced bodice of crochet-sequin and knit.
For her reception, Sarah wore a black and cream lace V-neck Tadashi Shoji gown with cap sleeves. In this fun photo, Sarah was enjoying her first dance with her father — They danced to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off!” (Dad’s a Taylor Swift fan!)
One of my favorite aspects of our couple’s wedding was the gorgeous work created by Blue Vanda Designs.
Their wedding rings and a storm trooper! They had the best sense of humor!
Their wedding dessert table display included this yummy chocolate cake from Baked & Wired. It’s officially my new favorite chocolate cake in DC!
Love & Soul Always, Kay
