Did you just get engaged? Here are four (4) important steps you should take now to protect your engagement ring.

✅ Get your engagement ring insured. If it’s an heirloom, get it appraised first. Then get it insured to protect you if your ring is ever damaged or stolen. You can add an insurance rider for your engagement ring to your homeowners or renters insurance.

✅ Clean your ring. A quick, gentle cleaning every other week is enough to keep it sparkling and to keep the bacteria at bay. As you clean your ring, use a soft toothbrush and mild soap to gently clean the gold and diamonds.

✅ Get your ring professionally cleaned and inspected twice a year. A jewelry pro will ensure that none of the stones or the ring prongs are loose or damaged. If you are afraid you won’t remember, create a calendar appointment.

✅ Get the ring appraised every two to three years. The value of jewelry fluctuates. The longer you wait, the less accurate your last appraisal will be.
